Grade 2 Math Skip Counting
Skip Counting
What is Skip Counting?
Skip counting is a method of counting forward by skipping some numbers in a number series. We add a fixed number with 0, also add the same fixed number with the previous addition result and this process goes forward until we stop the counting.
Suppose, the fixed
number is 3.
And,
0 + 3 = 3.
3 + 3 = 6.
6 + 3 = 9.
………………..
So, the skip
counting by 3 will be: 3, 6, 9, ………..
Now,
6 – 3 = 3.
9 – 6 = 3.
The difference
between the two numbers is the same.

Facts:
From the skip
counting table, we find that it’s a multiplication table also.

for skip counting 3, 4, 5, 6, 7, 8…. will follow the same multiplication
process.
Let’s Sing!
Skip counting is a
process of fun,
Jump the same steps
from the previous one.
It’s a pattern of Multiplication,

1. Fill in the blank below:
(i) 2 × 3 = ______.
(ii) 4 × 60 = _____.
(iii) 30 × 8 =
_____.
(iv) 90 × 3 =
_____.
Answer:
(i) 2 × 3 = 6.
(ii) 4 × 60 = 240.
[∵ 4 × 6 = 24]
(iii) 30 × 8 = 240.
[∵ 3 × 8 = 24]
(iv) 90 × 3 = 270. [∵ 9 × 3 = 27]
2. Fill in the blanks.
(a) 36, ___, 40, 42….
(b) 12, ___, 24, 30….
