What
is Subtraction?
Subtraction
means to take away a number of objects from a collection or fixed objects.
Example:
Jacson
has 5 balls. Jacson gives 2 balls to Julie. So, then the subtraction sentence
will be:
5 – 3
= 2.
Here, 3 is taken away from 5. And 2 stays.
What
is subtracting 1-Digit number?
When a
single digit number or object is taken away, then it is called subtracting
1-digit number.
Subtraction
Sign:
We
use minus (-) sign for subtraction.
Subtract
0 from a number:
When
we subtract 0 form a number or object, the number or object remains the same.
Example:
1 – 0
= 1.
5 – 0
= 5.
Process
of Subtracting 1-digit number:
5 – 3
= ?

counting from the number after 3 and count until to reach 5: 4, 5. Here total
steps = 2.
So, 5
– 3 = 2.
