What
is place value in math?
Place
value means a digit value of a number that depends on the digit
position in a number.
Example:
5, 50, 500 are three numbers. Here identify the place value of 5
from 5, 50 or 500.
In 5, 5’s value = 5 ones = 5.
In 50, 5’s value = 5 tens = 50.
In 500, 5’s vale = 5 hundreds = 500.
So, The place value depends on the position of a digit in a number.

50.
5. Find all digits place value of the
following numbers.

(b) 32
Answer:
(a)
92 = 9 tens and 2 ones.
Here, 9 is in the tens place.
So, the place value of 9 = 9 ✕ 10 = 90.
2 is in ones place.
So, the place value of 2 = 2 ✕ 1 = 2.
(b)
32 = 3 tens and 2 ones.
So, as per the place of the digit,
the place value of 3 = 3 ✕ 10 (tens place) =
30.
